9 days after the earthquake, Chile's needs are increasing. The damages evaluated initially by authorities are enormous. The amount of people affected by the earthquake initially reached about 2 million people.

Even though calm has returned to the people of the Metropolitan Region (Santiago), and the VI, VII, and VIII Regions of Chile, (the main affected areas from the mega-terremoto 'giant earthquake'), fear lingers in the presence of new aftershocks that have already been forecasted by seismology experts.

Chile Helps Chile

On Saturday, the Telethon Chile Ayuda a Chile, where they collected more than U$60 million for the construction of more than 40 thousand emergency housing projects, came to a successful end. However, that quantity of money is only equivalent to 0,2% of the total calculated losses made by International Organizations.

Chile has been supportive in moments of pain of other countries that have suffered catastrophes. We were the first to be in Haiti (primeros en estar en Haití), and now we need you with us. 

No country can stand up on their own after a tragedy of this magnitude. Chile needs you now (ahora).
